It was a tad on the cooler side, and very windy, the evening of the Moncrief family’s shoot, but that didn’t stop us from having fun. Their little boy enjoyed exploring in and around the lifeguard chair as well as the sand and water. I love watching kids explore and have fun, and it is those kinds of images I tend to like most.
I first met Trent and Abby a few years ago when I shot their engagement photos at the Cape May Lighthouse. Yesterday, I got to see them again and meet their beautiful baby girl, Jocelynn. Though the skies looked threatening all day, as soon as we started shooting, they cleared. Every once in awhile there were some sprinkles, but nothing we couldn’t handle. I enjoyed taking them around the grounds to parts they didn’t know existed at the lighthouse. Jocelynn was super sweet the entire time and was interested in everything! I loved my time with them!
Sometimes the best kind of portraits are those that capture the comfort of home (in this case mom and dad’s bed), and pure joy. I am a big fan of lifestyle portraits. Below you see my daughter, Audrey, having fun dressing up and jumping on my bed. I love my special times with her!
Happy New Year! A great way to start the new year off is with a new engagement. Not too long ago, I received an email from Mike telling me his plan to propose to his girlfriend, Katie, on Congress Hall’s lawn over looking Cape May beach. He wanted to know if I could capture the special moment and then do a portrait session of them around town before heading to dinner at the Ebbitt Room at the Virginia Hotel. I was all about it! I had never done an actual engagement before, and was excited about capturing the magic of the moment. She said YES! Congratulations to Mike & Katie, and a Happy new year to them and to you all. Here’s to 2014!

I first met Shannon in high school and was glad when I found her again through Facebook a few years ago. I am extremely excited to be shooting her wedding next fall and was just as excited to meet up with her and her fiancé, Mike, over the weekend for engagement photos at AGA Farms and Lake Nockamixon. I knew that Shannon would be as stylish as she always was, and I wasn’t surprised to find the locations that she picked were absolutely perfect and full of fun. I see the love between the both of them and I think they are truly a great match. I can’t wait until their wedding next year in Lancaster- another new location that I can’t wait to explore.
Thank you both for being such great sports and up for trying anything!
Friends I have known for several years now are expecting their baby boy any day! I am super excited for them because I know they will be amazing parents. Lance and Stephanie are filled with such personality, and any time I get to see them I am smiling and laughing so much that it hurts 🙂 We did this photo shoot at their sweet little house in North Cape May and this is something I have been wanting to do, capturing portraits in-home, as I feel it really pulls out personalities and keeps things comfortable.
Every year I get the pleasure of documenting the Breslin family and I took them to Higbee’s beach in Cape May. This year was extra special because there is a new little Breslin on the way 🙂 I can’t wait to meet him or her next year!
I felt so bad that I wasn’t able to make our original shoot date (especially since it was so nice out) due to an unfortunate case of whiplash… but the Eisched family were just as excited about doing the shoot on the earlier proposed rain-date, and this made me feel much better! I think little Leah was enjoying being a model- she had so much fun and was giggling the entire time 🙂 This session was on the Cove Beach in Cape May- a very popular beach which can be filled with people until late in the evening-especially if there have been rainy days earlier- but it is a beautiful location that keeps changing so it never quite looks the same and there are spots where we can go to get away from the crowd.
We met at the Cape May lighthouse, one of my top favorite locations, and the Ragona extended family were brave enough to face the rain- though it had cleared just as we started to take photos so it worked out really well. They were all such a pleasure to work with!
Sometimes the best portrait sessions are the ones that really capture the true interactions of the family- not strictly posed, and kids who just want to hang out. The Deluca family and I met up on a beautiful cooler evening, and had a fun time- and it couldn’t have turned out more perfect.
I met the extended Connor family the other evening for a portrait session at the Cove in Cape May. Everyone was sweet as can be, and each were comfortable in front of the camera. I really enjoyed spending some time with them and it was a great session, for sure!
It was so super hot, that we didn’t know we were going to make it long- but we did it! Despite the horrible hot summer conditions, the Morales family were wonderful models, taking the heat and the humidity as a challenge that they easily passed. One reason why I love Higbees Beach is because there are shady options with the beach still present- and of course, I am a big fan of nature!
I am so lucky to have some wonderful repeat clients each year, and the Davis family always come ready for a great session! A ‘picture perfect’ family I like to call them, that are extremely kind and fun to be around. This year was no different, and as usual, I enjoyed my time with them at a new location: The Fisherman’s Memorial on the harbor and a park on the harbor. Thank you again, Davis family, for choosing me to document your family through the years!
With two days of rainy forecast, the McNerneys and I decided to push our luck and shoot on the original day planned. I am so glad we did! We had a fun time shooting both inside and outside Congress Hall as well as under one of Congress Hall’s cabanas on the beach. Sometimes the less-than-perfect weather *is* the perfect time to shoot. Little Mae is such a pro, smiling the entire time and not one fuss!
