Happy New Year! A great way to start the new year off is with a new engagement. Not too long ago, I received an email from Mike telling me his plan to propose to his girlfriend, Katie, on Congress Hall’s lawn over looking Cape May beach. He wanted to know if I could capture the special moment and then do a portrait session of them around town before heading to dinner at the Ebbitt Room at the Virginia Hotel. I was all about it! I had never done an actual engagement before, and was excited about capturing the magic of the moment. She said YES! Congratulations to Mike & Katie, and a Happy new year to them and to you all. Here’s to 2014!

Alexis & Ryan

Cape May, Engagement Portraits

It was cold, but the cold did not seem to affect Alexis and Ryan on their engagement shoot. Perhaps it is the love between them keeping them warm? 🙂 While I was bundled up, Alexis and Ryan opted for no coats during their session. I have to say, I love how it turned out! We met on the beach across from Congress Hall, then went on to explore different backgrounds in Cape May on Jackson Street and Perry Street. While Congress Hall itself was hopping with business, the rest of the town was quiet and peaceful, giving us plenty of options to explore.

Congratulations, Alexis & Ryan!

Catherine & Ted

Cape May, Intimate Weddings, NJ, Weddings

When we got to the White Cottage, a sister property of The Virginia Hotel, it was raining though not as hard as earlier. It did not seem to phase Catherine as she continued to focus on getting ready to go to the church, The First Presbyterian Church of Cape May, to meet her soon-to-be husband Ted. I personally find the rain to be quite soothing and romantic, so I was very excited. The church is as beautiful inside as it is outside, and they had a very nice ceremony. By the time we came out of the church, there was a break in the rain and clouds and we seized the opportunity to shoot some portraits on the steps. The reception was held at the Virginia Hotel which always holds a special place in my heart as that is where I met my husband! It was an elegant backdrop for an elegant couple! Congrats again, Catherine & Ted! layout1
