I love Lisa and Shane so very much. I love their personalities, I love their style, I love their love. As soon as we started talking, I knew that their big day was going to be absolutely gorgeous and stylish. It finally arrived, and it was absolutely amazing. Lisa and Shane got ready at the Abbie Holmes Estate in Clermont, had portraits at Woodland Village, the ceremony in Avalon on the beach, and headed back to the estate for the reception. Lisa spent lots of time planning the little details and it really showed. Everywhere one turned, time, love, and effort were shown. My favorite part of all was the amount of time Lisa carved out just for portraits. It really makes all the difference. There was plenty of time for portraits, perfect lighting due to timing well in the evening hours, and amazing backdrops. We even had a post-wedding session after (see next post!)
These two can’t possibly get any cuter, and I wish them the very best ahead.
Suzanne and Tom are a fun couple. I mean, pulling off a surprise wedding definitely puts you at the top of the list for being a fun couple. The day was gorgeous, extremely windy, but otherwise absolutely perfect for the couple. Somehow the couple was able to not mention a word about the wedding until just hours before! Everyone was very delighted when they found out they were going to be attending a wedding! I loved every moment of this wedding.
Suzie and Jim wed in an intimate ceremony in Sea Isle City. The day was gorgeous and calm, and seemed to match their style. I always enjoy intimate ceremonies because it allows me to spend more time with my clients and their families when documenting the big day which makes even better photographs.
I love these two. They are so sweet and really are a friendly couple. I also love that they live close to where I grew up- so I felt an instant connection. And, I love, love, love Sue’s dress! Together they are a relaxed couple and make you stop and enjoy the moments you spend with them. I can’t wait to see them again!
I love Katie and Steve’s story about how they met. It was Memorial Day weekend and Katie was walking by a handsome gentleman sitting on a bench across from The Ugly Mug on Washington Street Mall in Cape May. The gentleman, Steve, noticed her and was staring. Katie, usually shy, walked up to him and asked where she could grab a bite to eat. The rest is history. This past Memorial Day weekend, Katie and Steve tied the knot on Trenton Ave beach in Cape May and held a gorgeous reception at a stunning house in Cape May. Every detail was perfect, and it was such a great day! Katie and Steve are a fun couple, extremely good looking, and very, very fun.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: I love, love, love intimate weddings. There’s a special feel with intimate weddings and I think that the camera picks that up. It’s the quiet moments, it’s the family and close friends that are very important to the couple, and it’s the portraiture time that photographers love. Colleen and Harry had a very sweet intimate wedding at a rented house in Cape May and then celebrated by having a delicious dinner at Peter Shields Inn. Colleen and Harry are so easy going and fun, it’s hard not to smile around them, especially when they are together.
Jessica and Dave’s wedding was a sweet and beautiful intimate ceremony on Congress Street beach in Cape May. Jessica got ready at Hotel Macomber and the reception was held there as well. The weather was a perfect overcast; not too dark, but no sun to make unsightly shadows or to make it too hot, and there were beautiful patches of blue popping through the clouds here and there. I absolutely loved the color scheme, a beautiful bright turquoise. When I did Jessica and Dave’s engagement photos last year, I had not had the chance to meet their son, Noah, and I was excited to do so at their wedding. I have a daughter close to Noah’s age and Jessica, Dave, and I have connected through comparing and sharing stories about our children. Noah is such a cutie! He knows how to work the camera, and loves every minute of it. It truly was a perfect day for a perfect couple.
The first wedding of the 2014 season couldn’t have been better! Amanda and Nick wed in the lobby of Hotel Alcott, in historic Cape May, which was also their reception site. The portraits were in and around the hotel, as it was a little too cool and breezy for the beach. Amanda was so beautiful and it was easy to photograph her gorgeous smile, and she smiled a lot around Nick (a good sign!).
Congratulations to Amanda and Nick, and here’s to a great 2014 season!
The last wedding of the year came with a great surprise of warmer weather. We were hoping that the weather would be nice enough for a few portrait shots on the Ocean City boardwalk, but we were not expecting it to cooperate so nicely! The boardwalk was bustling with people, which made for a great ambiance. Jocelyn & Rob had their ceremony and reception in the Flanders Hotel in Ocean City, NJ.What an amazing place it is; so romantic, especially during the holiday season as it felt like a winter wonderland. I love Jocelyn & Rob’s style and I think it came through nicely on the photos.
Wind, rain, and gray of a three-day storm didn’t ruin Kathy and Jeff’s intimate wedding at the Sunset Pavilion in Cape May. The ceremony was sweet and cozy inside the pavilion and the rain slowed down enough in time for portraits on the beach- and I am so glad they embraced the rainy shots! We also had fun playing around the deck at the Lobster House, which is a favorite spot of many, where they continued on to have dinner.
Have I mentioned that I love fall weddings? I do. Big time. It’s just the right temperature, beaches are not nearly as crowded, and the lighting is perfect. Carolyn and Matt had a stunning day for a ceremony on the beach in Cape May and the portraits went right into sunset which was great. We then headed over to the Inn of Cape May for their reception. Everything was simple and elegant and matched their personalities perfectly- full of joy and love.
I love intimate weddings and this was a very elegant one! Anne & John wanted to keep things simple and family oriented so they rented a house on the Delaware Bay in Villas, NJ just a few blocks from where I live. I was excited when they took my advice on bringing along a few props for some shots, and the props they found were so much fun! It was a nice evening which led to views of the sunset over-looking the bay.
Tori & Brian got married at Tori’s mother’s beach house in Sea Isle- such a perfect spot for this stunning couple. The ceremony was very intimate and I really enjoyed being a part of their day. I absolutely loved Tori’s dress as it photographed so well.
I love weddings that are easy going and fun, and Heather & Justin had just that! The day was the start of a cool-spell here in Cape May, so it felt great to be outside, and the sky was absolutely perfect- not to bright and not too cloudy. The portraits before the ceremony were taken at the Fisherman’s Memorial in Cape May- one of my favorite spots because it is sort of hidden and more private. The ceremony was held on The Grand’s deck which is always fun and gives a slight urban-feel in an other-wise beach town, I always love it! The reception was held inside The Grand, in the beautiful ballroom. Loved all the details of this wedding for sure!
Though the skies were threatening, Amy & Chris didn’t let the weather change their plans for their ceremony on Higbee’s Beach (one of my favorite locations), and I am extremely glad they didn’t! The rain held off for the ceremony and the portraits afterward, leaving us plenty of room to play around. Chris and Amy are a fun couple who are up for anything, and their bridal party also! It’s always great to work with people who have a fun time and are up for anything 🙂
